WELCOME TO THE DASSENBERG WALDORF SCHOOL WEBSITE!

The Dassenberg Waldorf School arose out of the initiative of parents and local community members who had long carried the ambition to start a Waldorf school in this area.
The vision was of a multi-cultural school, open to children from all economic and cultural backgrounds.
In order to bridge the diversity of mother tongues in this area, we chose to use English as the medium of learning, with Afrikaans and Xhosa being taught as separate subjects.
In our experience, the meeting of children from such diverse backgrounds has been greatly enriching. It brings about the understanding of each other's lives and cultures, which we believe to be essential for the future development of our country.
The Dassenberg Waldorf School, one of more than a thousand Waldorf schools worldwide, strictly follows the Waldorf curriculum, as first outlined by Dr. Rudolf Steiner, an Austrian philosopher. Its holistic approach enables children to grow into healthy, balanced and self-motivated adults, who can apply themselves to the needs of the world they live in.
Currently the Dassenberg Waldorf School offers a Playgroup, a Kindergarten and then continues from Grade R to Class 7.

We endeavour to instil in our pupils:
- Excellence in academic subjects
- Appreciation of the arts
- Initiative in action
- Acceptance and tolerance of others in the social realm
“A healthy social life is found only, when in the mirror of each soul the whole community finds its reflection, and when in the whole community the virtue of each one is living."
Rudolph Steiner
